About the position

The Production Department Shift Leader at Walmart's Dairy Plant in Fort Wayne, IN, is responsible for overseeing the Processing and Packaging Departments during the 3rd Shift. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring quality and effectiveness in milk processing, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment. The leader will also promote a culture of continuous improvement and support the development of associates while adhering to Walmart's values of service, integrity, excellence, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of processing and production areas by planning work schedules and assignments.
  • Monitor and evaluate all milk processing and production operations for quality and effectiveness.
  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment for defects or malfunctions.
  • Assist in production sequence planning to meet production goals and provide superior customer service.
  • Ensure timely resolution of associate performance concerns and complete departmental reports.
  • Document and implement new and improved processes to support continuous improvement (Lean) culture.
  • Participate in new hire and ongoing associate training, providing process improvement guidance.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring proper safety equipment is utilized and work areas are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support plans and initiatives.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates, including hiring, training, and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting the company's mission and values.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience supervising within a related environment (e.g., logistics supply chain, dairy plant, food processing, manufacturing).
  • 2 years' experience in clerical responsibilities and computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office).
