About the position

As a Production Sorter at Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, you will play a vital role in our operations by meticulously preparing, sorting, tagging, and hanging donations to ensure they are ready for our sales floor. This position is part-time, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible hours available to accommodate your schedule. The store operates Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM, allowing for a variety of shifts to fit your needs. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our merchandise by sorting, pricing, tagging, and hanging donated goods in preparation for stocking the sales floor. You will also be expected to meet daily production goals, which include processing at least 5 racks with 100 pieces per rack or achieving team goals as approved. Additionally, you will assist customers on the sales floor by answering questions and providing exceptional service, all while promoting the mission and values of Goodwill. Your work will contribute to our mission of empowering individuals in our community, continuing the legacy of Reverend John S. German, who believed in providing "Not a charity, but a chance." Responsibilities

  • Sort, price, tag and hang donated goods in preparation for stocking the sales floor
  • Ensure quality of merchandise and pre-sort items for salvage
  • Meet daily production goals of at least 5 racks, 100 pieces per rack or team goal as approved
  • Perform daily and nightly recovery of sales floor
  • Assist customers by answering questions and providing excellent customer service
  • Maintain compliance with safety and housekeeping practices and expectations
  • Maintain a professional and flexible attitude; willing to take on different job responsibilities
  • Promote the mission and values of Goodwill
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior retail, production, warehouse, material handling or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to complete tasks and assignments with numerous interruptions and little direct supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the telephone
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail and diligence to meet daily production goals
  • Commitment to team building and improvement processes
