About the position

The Assembly Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the personnel and daily operations within a production department, ensuring adherence to plant policies and procedures. This role focuses on achieving production schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards, and involves continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage day-to-day activities in the production department.
  • Achieve production schedule attainment and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Implement and support a work environment of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and recommend improvements for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Direct, schedule, and prioritize production activities to ensure 100% schedule completion.
  • Maintain compliance with quality requirements and manage quality control inspection plans.
  • Manage daily material usage to meet budgeted yields.
  • Enforce a preventative maintenance program for department machinery.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area through effective housekeeping practices.
  • Develop, train, and manage hourly employees, ensuring accountability.
  • Ensure proper completion and submission of production paperwork.
  • Coordinate department schedules, including assignments, training, and breaks.
  • Manage production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Schedule and conduct department meetings.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's in management preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Ability to manage, communicate, and develop subordinate employees.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials (50 lbs or more).
  • Basic math skills and ability to read measuring tools in metric dimensions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar supervisory role in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of production control management systems.
