About the position

As a Post Production Supervisor at Trex, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing shift, ensuring that production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost are met. This position is not just about managing the workflow; it is about being an innovator in the manufacturing process and leading a team that is committed to excellence. You will be a key member of our Production team, contributing to a culture that prioritizes safety and efficiency while fostering a supportive environment for all employees. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining safety programs to ensure safe working conditions, promoting high safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. You will also be responsible for quality assurance, ensuring that all manufactured products meet established specifications. Leadership and team development are essential aspects of this role, as you will participate in hiring and training staff, assess training needs, and work closely with the Production Manager and Human Resources to enhance crew leadership capabilities. In terms of production, you will supervise manufacturing shift employees, control production costs, and establish production standards to maximize efficiency. You will also monitor and manage site inventory levels, ensuring accuracy in raw material and packaged goods consumption. This role requires a proactive approach to evaluating and adjusting production plans to address any contingencies, ensuring that the manufacturing area adheres to established cost-saving programs. Overall, your leadership will be pivotal in driving the success of the production team and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, promote, and maintain safety programs to ensure safe working conditions and minimize lost time due to accidents.
  • Foster high safety awareness and emphasize safety as the company's top priority.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements in personnel administration, product liability, and environmental protection.
  • Ensure manufactured and distributed products meet established specifications for dimensions, material composition, strength, and appearance.
  • Participate in hiring and training a dedicated hourly work unit.
  • Assess and identify training needs for process technicians to ensure efficient production operations.
  • Work with the Production Manager and Human Resources to assess and enhance crew leadership capabilities.
  • Balance overtime needs with employee preferences and business requirements.
  • Supervise manufacturing shift employees and activities to meet or exceed budgeted parameters in volume, cost, material loss, purchase costs, and distribution.
  • Control production costs in line with annual budgets, monitoring crew direct labor hours.
  • Establish and utilize production standards for each manufacturing operation to maximize production efficiency.
  • Manage seamless transitions between production shifts, prioritizing activities and staffing for all work cells, including maintenance.
  • Monitor and adhere to production plans aligned with the budget and manufacturing standards for each product.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust production plans and schedules to address contingencies and variations.
  • Oversee established cost-saving programs in the manufacturing area to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and follow measures to manage site inventory levels and ensure the accuracy of PKG and Reclaim.
  • Utilize the Kanban system to effectively manage raw material and packaged goods consumption.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Continuous improvement mindset is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor or Production Manager is desirable.

  • Experience in implementing safety programs.
