About the position
The Production Supervisor at Zekelman Industries is responsible for overseeing production operations at the Plymouth, MI facility. This role involves ensuring that production, shipping, slitting, and quality standards are met while fostering a safe and efficient work environment. The supervisor will lead a team, provide technical expertise, and communicate effectively with management to address operational challenges.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide technical expertise to the Mill, Shipping, Slitter, and Quality Departments.
- Ensure all employees are trained on their respective jobs and safety features of their machines.
- Review daily operating reports for compliance and communicate issues to prevent operational delays.
- Prepare reports and information for senior management.
- Enforce workplace safety practices as per company and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot operational and tooling problems to improve quality and efficiency.
- Build and maintain a positive team-oriented environment among personnel.
- Evaluate employee performance objectively and discipline as necessary.
- Obtain medical treatment for injured employees and manage incident reporting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years total experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong computer skills for reporting purposes.
- Demonstrated communication skills.
