About the position

WilliamsRDM, Inc., a woman-owned, privately held small business located in Fort Worth, Texas, is seeking a Production Support Designer. This role is integral to the company's innovative product development and precision manufacturing processes, particularly in the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. The Production Support Designer will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to conceptualize, design, and implement machines, fixtures, tooling, and processes that are essential for product design and assembly. This position is crucial for ensuring a smooth transition from product development to production, supporting daily production lines to meet production goals effectively. The Production Support Designer will be a key member of project teams, representing Manufacturing and Production interests. The role requires consistent adherence to quality and company procedures, effective communication with team members, and a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing continuous improvement opportunities. Responsibilities include performing root cause analysis, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and collaborating with various departments to implement solutions to systemic problems. The designer will also be responsible for analyzing, developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to enhance production requirements for improved products and processes, all while following OSHA guidelines and workplace safety regulations. Candidates should possess technical training in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Machining, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a related manufacturing industry, such as automation, machining, electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, or injection molding. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production or product design, with skills in conceptual design of assembly equipment, jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids. Hands-on experience in fabricating prototypes and assembly equipment, as well as knowledge of CAD and PLC programming, is highly desirable. Effective communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to establish cooperative working relationships are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently follow all quality and company procedures and regulations

  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Perform assigned tasks with quality and efficiency as a priority while maintaining revenue and profitability
  • Support manufacturing troubleshooting while driving to root cause resolution
  • Work with all departments to implement solutions to systemic issues
  • In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering, implement new manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Analyze, develop, recommend and implement solutions to meet production requirements for improved products and/or processes
  • Follow Quality Policy and Procedures, OSHA guidelines and regulations governing workplace safety

Requirements

  • Technical training in Engineering, Manufacturing, Machining or equivalent work experience
  • Three years' experience in related manufacturing industry (automation, machining, electro-mechanical assembly, fabrication, injection molding)
  • Minimum of 3 years production or product design experience
  • Conceptual design of assembly equipment, jigs, fixtures and assembly aids
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and capability in equipment troubleshooting
  • Hands on fabrication of prototypes and assembly equipment
  • Develop new processes and improve current processes for continuous improvement efforts
  • Create work instructions to accurately define maintenance, setup and assembly processes
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Controls design and troubleshooting a plus
  • PLC programming a plus
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, i.e. meetings, reporting, etc.
  • Operation of a personal computer
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
  • Knowledge of general safety, quality awareness
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Work courteously and tactfully with customers and employees
  • Work with vendors for new technology development, process integration, and repair parts
