About the position

The Production Team Lead at Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company, is responsible for overseeing the production floor operations in Billerica, MA. This role focuses on guiding a designated team to meet operational targets and customer commitments while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The Production Team Lead will work closely with the Manufacturing and Operations Management team to drive improvements in production efficiency, quality, and on-time shipments, contributing to the company's mission of providing advanced x-ray technologies for security and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Guide a designated team to meet operational targets and customer commitments.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Monitor and analyze key process metrics to identify trends and drive process optimization strategies.
  • Create and maintain measurements for the team's performance, including daily and monthly goals.
  • Continuously analyze operations to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Manage resources to accomplish established goals of quality, quantity, and cost.
  • Interface effectively with other Group Leads to allocate resources between teams as needed.
  • Advocate for safe and correct production processes, aiming for zero errors.
  • Contribute to direct labor during surge times to meet commitments.
  • Work with management to set production targets and guide the team to reach them.
  • Communicate clear priorities to the team on an ongoing basis.
  • Allocate resources to meet production schedules and targets.
  • Ensure the team completes all administrative tasks to support production systems.
  • Provide annual reviews, performance feedback, and coaching to team members.
  • Manage time-off requests, daily time approval, and employee attendance.
  • Collect data and report metrics to support production targets and team goals.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and events as needed.
  • Maintain a high standard of organization on the factory floor.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience or similar industry experience.
  • 5+ years experience testing and troubleshooting large capital equipment.
  • 5+ years of military training and experience testing and troubleshooting large military platforms may be considered in lieu of industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, ERP, and work instruction type software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with production planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Basic management, employee relations, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to inspire and lead a team.
  • Commitment to achieving production goals despite challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and focus.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of BoM's, work instructions, and drawings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of 5S and Lean execution in a factory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of EM Assembly processes.
