About the position

The Production Team Lead at Berry Global plays a crucial role in maintaining production efficiency and quality within the manufacturing environment. This position involves leading safety initiatives, conducting quality inspections, and providing support to machine operators. The Production Lead acts as a backup supervisor when necessary and is responsible for training and developing team members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and fostering a positive work culture focused on performance and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance.
  • Act as a role model for Safety on the shift and report all observed safety hazards to management.
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities.
  • Support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility and drive corrective actions to eliminate safety risks.
  • Assist and/or lead all required meetings with safety in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees.
  • Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
  • Check all line paperwork and provide production floor leadership.
  • Monitor and correct safety issues and perform 1st Piece Quality Inspection on all changeovers.
  • Provide break relief to machine operators as needed and complete necessary paperwork including Production Reports and Quality forms.
  • Follow AIB Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) per written procedures and practices.
  • Direct housekeeping tasks and perform other tasks as assigned by Management or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge/experience of injection molding, recycling procedures and profiles or resins and their properties.
  • Mechanical aptitude/experience for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem solving, teamwork interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work 12-hr shift schedule (including nights & weekends).
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Positive attitude & good work ethic.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Quality focused.
  • Excellent Safety record and mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate accurately and professionally with all levels of the organization.
