About the position

The Production Technician role at Smucker's Fruit Spreads Plant involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-speed packaging and processing equipment to ensure the production of high-quality food products. Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
• Meet all safety expectations, including wearing required personal protective equipment and following safe practices.
• Work in a team environment, assisting others and flowing to the work as needed.
• Collect and analyze data using applied math skills.
• Operate a computer keyboard to input and access data.
• Perform basic and routine maintenance activities on equipment.
• Work outside normal scheduled hours and overtime as required for maintenance tasks.
• Use basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, and drills.
• Safely operate a tow motor and maintain proper training requirements.
• Perform other duties within skill capability.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
• Previous work experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
• Good attendance record and ability to comply with attendance policy.
• Demonstrated background of mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work with and around cleaning chemicals and perform sanitation duties.
• Ability to operate, perform basic and routine maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment, including physical activities like climbing, standing, bending, twisting, and moving around stairs, ladders, and platforms.
• Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Self-directed worker capable of working in a team environment to solve problems and implement solutions.
• Ability to effectively read, comprehend, interpret, record, and apply information from documents such as equipment manuals and SOPs.
