About the position

The Production Technician will assist the farm production team in the breeding and farrowing departments, ensuring adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for optimal productivity and animal welfare. This role involves routine animal care, biosecurity compliance, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Complies with the practices and principles of biosecurity to safeguard the life and health of the swine herd.
• Performs routine tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
• Ensures and follows the highest level of a safe work environment and work practices.
• Routinely cares for the welfare of the animals, including feeding, watering, and providing health treatments.
• Monitors and oversees the birthing process, ensuring proper care for baby pigs.
• Works with team members to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the work area.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Farm Manager.

Requirements

• Desire to work with pigs and willingness to learn about animal behavior.
• Ability to tolerate and perform animal husbandry tasks routinely.
• Must be available to work 11 of 14 days in a pay cycle, including weekends and holidays.
• Solid work history with the ability to provide solid work references.
