About the position

The Production Worker / Office Clerk role is a dual-function position that involves both operational and administrative responsibilities. The individual will assist in operating packaging equipment in a production environment while also handling various office tasks related to human resources and finance. This position requires a blend of mechanical aptitude and organizational skills to ensure efficient production processes and effective office support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and operate various packaging equipment.
  • Work in close proximity to machines that compress wood by-products.
  • Open compression chamber doors and facilitate placement of bags and removal of bales from packaging equipment.
  • Record bales weights and keep records of daily activity per company standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on packaging equipment.
  • Learn and perform standard setups, adjustments, and operating characteristics of all packaging equipment.
  • Obtain forklift certification to perform basic forklift duties as required.
  • Handle purchase order receipts and receipt of non-stock supplies.
  • Coordinate with senior HR staff on initiatives including onboarding and payroll support.
  • Review daily bagging reports and update finished goods inventory.
  • Support the finance department on month-end close procedures.
  • Print BOLs/Picking slips and reconcile BOLs for shipping.
  • Provide administrative support to PM and safety programs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass company forklift training.
  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Above average communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a team and manage through others effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing office preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for maintenance problems.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
