About the position

The Professional Administrative Analyst 1 (Budget) plays a crucial role in providing financial and operational analysis to support strategic decision-making within the Water Department. This position focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, enabling executives and managers to make informed business decisions. The analyst will prepare various reports, monitor budget compliance, and analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports comparing actual, historical, budget, and forecast data.
  • Monitor the implementation of DWSD's budget to ensure compliance and develop financial and operational metrics.
  • Prepare reports and presentations with recommendations regarding financial and operational risks and opportunities.
  • Use enterprise resource planning systems and statistical software to analyze financial and operational data.
  • Conduct cost studies and alternative analysis to assess efficiencies and priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with specialization in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in economics, finance, accounting, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of financial theory and principles of business management operations.
  • Understanding of operational cost metrics and financial planning and analysis.
