About the position

The Senior Civil Engineer will manage engineering design services for environmental health and sanitation infrastructure projects, focusing on improving the quality of life in rural and underserved communities in Alaska. This role involves leading design efforts, managing contracts, providing field support during construction, and mentoring a team of engineers. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure project goals are met while adhering to regulations and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for sanitation and health facilities in remote areas.
• Manage contracts, review deliverables, and conduct inspections of project sites.
• Provide field support during construction, including approving design modifications.
• Collaborate with community groups and federal authorities to drive projects forward.
• Approve final designs and manage budgetary and scheduling requirements.
• Mentor and manage a team of engineers, conducting performance evaluations.
• Oversee the production of detailed construction drawings and technical documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, including 6 years of design and 4 years in cold-climate projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with ability to obtain Alaska licensure within 12 months.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Expertise in engineering principles related to water treatment infrastructure in cold climates.
• Comprehensive understanding of environmental health laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related software tools.
• Strong project management abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Master of Science Degree may substitute for one year of experience.
