About the position

The Professional Electrical Engineer will join the Facilities Engineering team in Saint Paul, MN, focusing on the design of power, lighting, and signal systems for various building projects across multiple sectors including industrial, mining, rail, education, government, aviation, and municipal markets. This role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplined team to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient electrical designs that meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Implement electrical engineering portions of projects to produce reliable, safe, and efficient designs.
  • Develop site, power, lighting, and signal plans; one-lines; panel board, conduit/cable, and equipment schedules; and detail drawings.
  • Assist with construction administration responsibilities including responding to contractor questions, shop drawing review, and compliance observations.
  • Participate in project team meetings and client consultations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain registration within 12-18 months.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in power, lighting, and signal system design for commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Experience with electrical distribution equipment layout and design including panel boards, transformers, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems.
  • Design experience with 208/120 and 480/277 volt systems.
  • Basic knowledge of National Electrical Code.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Basic experience/knowledge in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, and Architectural disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with medium voltage (13.8kV) site power distribution.
  • Experience with industrial power system designs for motor and process equipment control.
  • Experience with business development responsibilities including scoping electrical design for proposals and fee estimates.
