About the position

The Professional Service Technician - Lead position involves leading a team of service technicians to provide maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems primarily in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities. The role emphasizes customer relations, technician development, and operational efficiency, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of service technicians in a specified geographic area or project/customer assignment.
• Develop and maintain excellent customer relations.
• Actively pursue personal development and support technician growth.
• Screen, interview, and hire new technicians under the direction of the Service Manager.
• Assist in quoting service and maintenance for new customer sites.
• Coordinate technical support, guidance, and training for service technicians.
• Manage truck inventory and maintain parts responsibly with minimal waste.
• Perform routine maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration systems.
• Demonstrate the ability to utilize hand-held devices for paperwork and invoicing.
• Mentor and coach newer team members to ensure compliance with systems and processes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required; HVAC-R Technical School Degree preferred.
• 7 years of field experience or 5 years with Certification from a Technical School for external candidates; 3 years as a Certified Technician for internal candidates.
• Valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and decision-making ability.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of basic refrigeration and/or commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Strong leadership skills and business acumen.
