The Professional Staff Nurse, BSN, Casual - LDRP position at UPMC Horizon involves providing comprehensive nursing care in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit. The nurse will be responsible for managing patient care activities, ensuring high standards of care, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts.
• Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement in clinical care.
• Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.
• Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for patient care.
• Practices solid communication skills and articulates the patient's condition to other care providers.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and patient care.
• Provides detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through the episode of care.
• Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state.
• BSN preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
• Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Labor and Delivery or Med Surg is highly desired.
