About the position

The Professional Staff Nurse, OR at UPMC Hanover is a Registered Nurse responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Operating Room. The nurse will also participate in leadership and supervisory roles, ensuring adherence to care standards and fostering positive relationships with patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Circulate all procedures within the OR.
• Act as a patient advocate.
• Assist anesthesia with intubation and extubation.
• Serve as a liaison within surgical services and throughout the hospital.
• Perform scrub role as required for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state or a state covered by a licensure compact agreement.
• Zero to two years of nursing experience; BSN preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with healthcare teams and patients.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Mobility and visual manual dexterity; physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Nice-to-haves

• UPMC approved national certification preferred.
