About the position

The Professor and Chair in Apparel Events and Hospitality Management at Iowa State University is a leadership role responsible for guiding the department towards excellence in education, research, and community engagement. The Chair will develop and implement a strategic vision, manage resources, and foster collaboration among faculty, staff, and students. This position requires a commitment to innovation and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The initial appointment is for five years, with a focus on mentoring and professional development within the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to serve the needs of faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, and citizens.
• Communicate effectively the mission, vision, and strengths of the department and college.
• Manage budget, personnel, and other resources to achieve departmental goals.
• Facilitate the professional development of faculty and staff and provide mentorship.
• Encourage a culture of collaboration and innovation to secure extramural funding.
• Participate in representational activities on behalf of the department and college.
• Contribute to the mission of the department through teaching, research, extension, and/or service.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in relevant disciplines within the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management.
• A record of scholarly accomplishment consistent with an advanced tenured professor to qualify for tenure at the rank of professor.
