About the position
The University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking a full-time, tenure track Professor of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with a focus on Human Health and Wellbeing. This position is designed for a dedicated educator and scholar who will contribute to teaching, research, and service within a thriving interdisciplinary program. The successful candidate will engage in impactful teaching, develop a funded research program, and mentor students at both undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly in relation to the human health benefits of nature and parks.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism program, typically 2 per semester.
- Advise and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop an extramurally funded, high-impact research program addressing contemporary issues related to parks, recreation, tourism, and human health.
- Contribute to teaching (40%), research (40%), and service (20%).
- Demonstrate research leading to presentations and publications in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism or a related field.
- Capacity to deliver high quality, impactful teaching, mentoring, and advising of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Ability to develop a successful, funded research program as demonstrated by a record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong research skills and creative approaches to scholarship.
- Experience developing collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
