About the position

The Professor of Practice in Biological and Biomanufacturing Systems Technology at Iowa State University is a full-time faculty position focused on teaching, mentoring students, and engaging with industry stakeholders to advance the biomanufacturing sector. The role involves leading the newly established BS degree option within the Industrial Technology program, preparing students for careers in bio-based industries through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates principles of manufacturing, instrumentation, chemistry, and microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses related to biological and biomanufacturing systems technology.
• Recruit and mentor students in the program.
• Interface with relevant industries to provide educational and career opportunities for students.
• Engage with stakeholders to advance the biomanufacturing industry in Iowa.
• Lead the development of the BS degree option within the Industrial Technology program.

Requirements

• A B.S. degree in science, technology, or engineering.
• At least five years of relevant industry experience for Assistant Professor rank.
• At least ten years of relevant industry experience for Associate Professor rank.
• At least fifteen years of relevant industry experience for Professor rank.
