About the position

The Professor (Open Rank) in Orthopedic Surgery and Biostatistics at the University of Louisville is responsible for collaborating with physicians and researchers to design and implement studies, analyze data, and publish research findings. This role includes writing statistical designs for research proposals and leading research project teams, with faculty rank dependent on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Write statistical design, methods, and analysis for research proposals.
  • Apply for extramural grants and/or contracts as the principal investigator.
  • Assume leadership roles on committees, working groups, and research project teams.
  • Design statistical analyses and report generation procedures for specific research studies.
  • Develop statistical design and planned analyses for research grant proposals, including sample size and statistical considerations.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and abstracts, including primary authorship on research papers.
  • Present at professional and scientific meetings.
  • Participate in teaching activities in biostatistics and statistical computing topics within the SPHIS educational programs.
  • Supervise the work of other researchers and maintain and evaluate statistical software.

Requirements

  • MA or MS in advanced mathematics, statistics, or related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in an environment dealing with various academic disciplines and quantitative research projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD or other advanced degree, especially for being the statistician on NIH and other federally funded grants.
  • 10 or more years of experience.
