About the position

As a UX Design Professor at SCAD, you will leverage progressive design principles and tools to equip students with essential skills for success in the dynamic field of UX design. This role involves fostering an interdisciplinary design community and collaborating with various academic disciplines, including graphic design and industrial design, to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare for teaching assignments as outlined in the Employment Agreement.
• Maintain an active and engaged classroom environment.
• Design, submit, and gain approval for syllabi.
• Hold office hours and conduct midterm grade reviews to provide feedback to students.
• Be available for students outside of regular class hours through extra help sessions and study trips.
• Conduct course- and program-level assessments.
• Model professionalism and fulfill grading and academic documentation requirements.
• Record attendance and adhere to academic policies and regulations.
• Support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts.
• Attend on-ground and virtual events as required to support the academic department.

Requirements

• Terminal degree (or equivalent) in UX design, interaction design, HCI, human factors, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in UX design.
• Demonstrated experience teaching UX design at the college level.
• Strong project management skills for organizing and leading curriculum.
• Comprehensive understanding of UX methodologies, theories, and cognitive human factors.
• Exceptional graphic and idea visualization skills.
• Expertise in user research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Proficiency in digital prototyping and crafting interactive experiences.
• Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and intuitive user interfaces.
• Experience in implementing and analyzing usability testing.
