About the position

The University of South Florida is seeking a senior-level faculty member for the College of Public Health, specializing in global vector-borne infectious disease research and education. This position involves teaching, research, scholarship, and service responsibilities, with an expectation to secure external funding to support a significant portion of the salary and benefits after the initial years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate level courses in global infectious diseases, molecular parasitology, medical entomology, disease ecology, and/or vector biology.
• Advise graduate students and chair doctoral student committees.
• Establish a research program in global infectious diseases and secure competitive external funding.
• Collaborate with faculty on research activities and publish scholarly papers.
• Train doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows.
• Engage in service activities at the university and community levels.

Requirements

• An earned doctorate in public health, biology, medicine, or a related field.
• A minimum of two years of experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
• A national/international record of excellence in research in global infectious diseases and related fields.
• Established record of competitive funding for research activities.
• Excellence in teaching with a defined teaching philosophy and experience on thesis/dissertation committees.
• Significant contributions to university service and the professional community.
