About the position

The Program Administrator at YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities is responsible for overseeing the milieu and therapeutic programming of the assigned program. This role involves developing and implementing therapeutic programming, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing effective leadership to the interdisciplinary team. The administrator coordinates care, manages staff, and fosters a safe and inclusive environment for both staff and individuals supported by the program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the milieu and therapeutic programming of the assigned program.
  • Ensures appropriate supervision to protect the health, safety, and habilitation of individuals supported.
  • Provides leadership and develops a treatment team for quality care and positive outcomes.
  • Coordinates the interdisciplinary team to implement person-centered treatment and behavior plans.
  • Establishes a harassment-free work environment and escalates concerns to senior leadership.
  • Maintains direct relationships with staff and bolsters staff morale.
  • Assigns responsibilities and manages staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Supervises staff to meet the needs of individuals supported and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in the hiring process, interviewing and selecting qualified staff.
  • Assesses work performance and ensures quality service provision through ongoing supervision.
  • Fosters professional development through regular training and evaluations.
  • Leads interdisciplinary team meetings to disseminate information and solve problems.
  • Attends planning meetings to ensure inclusion of family members and external supports.
  • Maintains a safe environment and adheres to safety regulations.
  • Assesses areas of risk and notifies authorities of hazardous conditions.
  • Oversees facility maintenance and maintains adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Facilitates relationships with families, service providers, and community members.
  • Oversees financial systems and maintains records for program expenditures.
  • Monitors billing for accuracy and ensures compliance with treatment records.
  • Documents and reports errors, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Ensures compliance with care plans and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as liaison to regulatory agencies for inquiries and incidents.
  • May serve as Administrator-on-Call and provide program coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD); or a high school diploma and 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a residential setting with behavioral health experience.
  • Must hold or obtain certification as a Group Home Administrator or Adult Residential Facility Administrator within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of California's Lanterman Act and Title 17 and 22 regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative and be flexible.

  • Previous experience as a lead or supervisor in a residential setting.
