About the position

The position involves overseeing the milieu and therapeutic programming of a residential program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The role includes developing and implementing therapeutic programming, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing effective leadership to the treatment team. The individual will coordinate interdisciplinary team efforts, maintain a safe and supportive environment, and manage staff performance to ensure quality care and positive outcomes for the people supported.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the milieu and therapeutic programming of the assigned program.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic programming and groups by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision to protect the health, safety, and habilitation of individuals supported.
  • Provide effective leadership and develop a treatment team for quality care.
  • Coordinate all members of the interdisciplinary team, promoting excellence in the program.
  • Establish a harassment-free work environment and escalate concerns to senior leadership.
  • Foster an open-door policy and maintain direct relationships with staff.
  • Assign responsibilities and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Supervise staff to meet the needs of individuals supported and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the hiring process and select qualified staff based on program needs.
  • Assess work performance and ensure quality service provision through ongoing supervision.
  • Lead interdisciplinary team meetings and discussions to disseminate information and solve problems.
  • Attend planning and other meetings regarding individuals supported, ensuring family inclusion.
  • Organize and present ongoing trainings for staff.
  • Maintain a safe environment and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Assess areas of risk and rectify them, notifying proper authorities as needed.
  • Oversee facility maintenance and maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Facilitate professional relationships with families and community members, advocating for individuals with disabilities.
  • Oversee financial systems and maintain records for individuals supported and program expenditures.
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of all paperwork related to individual treatment and compliance.
  • Document and report errors, incidents, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with care plans to maximize quality improvement management.
  • Comply with all relevant regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Serve as liaison to Regional Center and other agencies for inquiries and incidents.
  • May serve as Administrator-on-Call and provide program coverage when necessary.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience serving or providing direct support to individuals with I/DD; or a High school diploma with 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a residential setting with behavioral health experience.
  • Must be a Registered Behavior Technician, Licensed Psychiatric Technician, or Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
  • Must hold or obtain certification as a Group Home Administrator or Adult Residential Facility Administrator within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of California's Lanterman Act and Title 17 and 22 regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Highly flexible personality type.
  • Ability to respond to calls and programmatic needs beyond regular work hours.
