About the position

Leads the enablement of agility within a large, strategic initiative within the Commercial Bank. The Program Agile Coach will focus on the enduring agile mindsets, behaviors and practices within the organization as a whole - while also enabling agility within the initiative itself. They will focus on creating consistency to promote a repeatable and scalable system, while supporting initiative leaders with incremental value delivery using practices like OKRs, work breakdown, scaled agile routines and strategic roadmapping. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in agile principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and lead agile adoption and transformation across the Bank through the creation and execution of coaching strategies specific to lines of business and their senior leaders.
  • Assess organization's agile health and utilize findings to develop coaching strategies to enable and sustain enterprise agility across the initiative.
  • Develop valued and strategic partnerships with senior technology and business leadership to assess and strengthen agile maturity across the Bank and within specific lines of business and/or areas of responsibility.
  • Create and execute a strategic roadmap, prioritizing opportunities to overcome organizational impediments focusing on continuous improvement and value delivery optimization.
  • Partner with senior leaders to prioritize work in their business lines, ensuring alignment with agile strategic vision across the Bank.
  • Cultivate collaboration across all lines of business within the Bank through relationships built on accountability and commitment to shared vision.
  • Directly advise and influence senior leaders in ways that strengthen agile adoption and practices; provide strategic direction for agile learning across the Bank.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement through mentorship of all agile roles across the organization, motivating others to adopt and instill change.
  • Champion agile culture by learning and cultivating new agile techniques and practices, prioritizing the use of new techniques and practices within the organization to advance strategic objectives.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 14 years' education and relevant work experience, including a minimum of 6 years' relevant agile work experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years' relevant agile work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders.
  • Experience using management systems to measure goals, performance, or value delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Business Administration.
  • Experience aiding an organization undergoing an agile transformation.
  • Experience working in complex, enterprise agile frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or Lean Portfolio Management.
  • Understanding of design thinking principles.
  • Product management experience.
