About the position

The Program Analyst I/II position is a promotional opportunity for current regular and temporary employees of the City of Santa Cruz. This role involves planning, coordinating, developing, implementing, and administering various programs that support city services and initiatives. The analyst ensures compliance with laws and regulations, conducts research, analyzes data, prepares reports, and engages in public outreach. This recruitment aims to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies in the Program Analyst classification for up to one year.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, develop, implement, and administer programs in support of City services and initiatives.
  • Ensure program compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and City policies.
  • Conduct research and analyze data to prepare reports and other materials.
  • Participate in the development and administration of program budgets and cost projections.
  • Research grants and funding opportunities and prepare applications as assigned.
  • Create and distribute program outreach and informational materials.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from program participants and customers.
  • Act as a liaison with government officials, businesses, and the public.
  • Coordinate program certification or re-certification activities.
  • May manage projects and direct the work of assigned project staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, computer science, or a related field; or a high school diploma with three years of relevant experience for Program Analyst I.
  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, social science, computer science, or a related field; or a high school diploma with four years of relevant experience for Program Analyst II.
  • Knowledge of methods for researching, analyzing, and presenting data.
  • Effective customer service standards and techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain regulations and policies.
