About the position

The Program Analyst for Revenue Optimization at UW Medicine Ambulatory Business Operations plays a crucial role in enhancing the financial performance of ambulatory clinics across the enterprise. This position is designed for a professional who can spearhead transformative initiatives, collaborating with leaders, staff, and physicians to optimize revenue operations. The role requires a hybrid work schedule, where onsite presence is necessary for specific projects, meetings, and other priorities, while remote work is also regularly approved. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in revenue optimization, the analyst will lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to ensure successful project delivery. The position involves implementing industry best practices in revenue operations, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and fiscal responsibility. The analyst will co-chair the Ambulatory Insurance Meeting and represent ambulatory interests in revenue cycle and payor meetings. Additionally, the role includes assisting with Epic Revenue Cycle upgrades, developing reports for denials and write-offs, and preparing stakeholders for upcoming changes in contracts, technology, and processes to ensure smooth financial operations. The UW Medicine Ambulatory Business Operations team serves as a central resource supporting the goals and needs of the ambulatory division across the system, including Harborview, UW Medical Center Montlake, and Northwest, as well as UW Medicine Primary Care. This position is integral to the mission of UW Medicine, which is to improve public health by advancing medical knowledge and providing outstanding care.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead transformative initiatives across ambulatory clinics in the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with leaders, staff, and physicians to optimize revenue operations.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Implement industry best practices in revenue operations, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Co-chair Ambulatory Insurance Meeting and represent ambulatory in revenue cycle and payor meetings.
  • Assist with Epic Revenue Cycle upgrades.
  • Develop reports for denials/write offs.
  • Prepare stakeholders for upcoming changes in contracts, technology, and processes, ensuring smooth financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in health care operations, clinic administration, process improvement and/or change management within a physician practice
  • Deep knowledge of payors, plans, ambulatory clinic operations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, support and implement new services and programs
  • Proven ability to implement and sustain change/improvements (change champion)
  • Creative problem solver
  • Consulting and coaching skills
  • Insurance expertise, with experience in clinic patient service specialist, billing, and similar roles
  • Time management skills
  • Financial and data analysis capabilities
  • Ability to successfully apply quality management, process improvement and problem-solving tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking and analysis
  • Experience facilitating multidisciplinary groups
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Visio, OneNote and Outlook
  • Epic Application Skills: EpicCare, Prelude, and Cadence
  • Knowledge of Insurance Portals: One Health Port, Availty, Insurance Web Tool
  • Knowledge of Healthcare Industry changes; Pay for performance, Accountable Care Networks, Value Based Purchasing, Meaningful Use, and Quality based measures
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
