About the position

The Program Analyst (Lead Region Coordinator) position is located in Region 7, specifically within the Land, Chemical & Redevelopment Division of the EPA. This role involves coordinating regional input on various policy resource issues related to national programs, analyzing program and policy issues, and providing recommendations for adjustments. The position requires regular physical attendance at the duty station in Lenexa, KS, with occasional travel expected. It is a temporary promotion or detail, not exceeding 09/30/2025 or 120 days, respectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate regional input on policy resource issues related to national programs.
  • Analyze emerging and existing program, policy, or regulatory issues and provide recommendations for program adjustments.
  • Represent the regional perspective to National Program Managers (NPMs).
  • Provide budgetary and resource analysis and input to budget formulation and capital resource proposals.

Requirements

  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in planning, organizing, and negotiating to develop recommendations involving agency resources.
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating programs and policies.
  • Ability to coordinate, lead, or facilitate high-level meetings and discussions.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and build consensus.
  • Knowledge of the Federal budget process.

  • Ability to apply a strategic regional or agency-wide view to solve problems.
