About the position

The Program and Budget Senior Consultant at Kearney & Company is responsible for providing expert analysis and recommendations to improve budget justification processes for clients, particularly within the Department of Defense (DoD). This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure budget alignment with organizational goals, developing methodologies for budget evaluation, and preparing detailed reports for senior management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a budget line item review to understand their purpose, function, and allocation.
• Analyze historical budget data and exhibits to identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern for budget structure and justification.
• Develop a methodology for evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of budget justification material.
• Provide recommendations for improving the quality and accuracy of budget justifications.
• Collaborate with budget stakeholders, including Component budget officers and program managers, to ensure the budget and associated justification are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for developing and reviewing budget justifications to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Prepare status reports for senior management and stakeholders based on the analysis of budget justification material.

Requirements

• BA/BS/BBA degree from an accredited college/university
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
• Must possess a Secret clearance
• Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with pivot tables and other advanced features of Excel
• Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to quickly deliver quality written products in constrained time periods
• Must have outstanding communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders across DoD
• Must have experience in managing customer expectations and working directly with customers on various ad hoc requests.
