About the position

The Programs and Events Operations Coordinator at the Presidio Trust plays a crucial role in supporting the Visitor Services Department by managing event setup and breakdown. This position ensures compliance with event permits, monitors safety, and engages with various stakeholders to facilitate successful events in the Presidio, a historic national park site. The role requires a commitment to public service and safety, as well as the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary on-the-ground support staff for public programs and events in the Trust's open spaces, including setup and breakdown of events.
  • Monitor Trust-sponsored and permitted park events to ensure compliance with permit terms and support crowd control and public safety.
  • Coordinate with safety staff from multiple jurisdictions during events and alert necessary agencies of safety issues.
  • Engage with visitors to enforce park rules and etiquette, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare and submit post-event reports and document property damage for recouping costs from clients.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings and event debriefs to suggest improvements for future events.
  • Support the trail counter network and track visitation numbers for events.
  • Manage event and park equipment inventory and perform maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring contractors and seasonal staff perform their duties properly.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of program and events operations experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic maintenance of shop equipment and tools.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and personable with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to maintain working relations with fellow employees and the public.
  • Must possess a valid CA Driver's License and be able to drive various vehicles.
  • Competent in MS Office programs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift loads in excess of 50 pounds.
