About the position

The Program and Outreach Coordinator at Texas Southern University is responsible for managing the daily operations of grant-funded programs, focusing on health promotions, community engagement, and outreach. This role involves supervising staff and student workers, ensuring effective program implementation, and maintaining relationships to advance health equity in underserved communities. The coordinator will also handle administrative tasks, financial tracking, and outreach event planning, while being adaptable and self-motivated in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of grant funded programs.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships to advance health equity.
  • Provide health equity related services to individuals in underserved communities.
  • Prepare materials and participate in outreach events, seminars, and conferences.
  • Serve as the direct contact for community inquiries regarding grant funded programs.
  • Ensure accurate information is shared through grant funded programs.
  • Maintain an event calendar and communicate details with the team.
  • Coordinate outreach events, team meetings, and seminars.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Initiate and complete agreements for speakers and consultants.
  • Compile data for progress and financial reports.
  • Hire, train, manage, and evaluate student staff/interns.
  • Maintain program website and social media platforms.
  • Order and maintain supplies for grant funded programs.
  • Track and reconcile expenditures for grant funded programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health administration, public administration, health promotion, health policy, social work, or health education.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in educational presentations and facilitation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Teams.
  • Supervisory skills to manage student staff or volunteers.
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong public speaking abilities.
  • Experience in conflict management and resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in health education or community engagement.
