About the position

Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of Urban and Community Forestry Program and Pathways Manager. This position is pivotal in leading the development and implementation of MHYC's inaugural initiative aimed at enhancing urban and community forest management while simultaneously fostering youth workforce development in the Metro Denver area. The successful candidate will oversee a program that provides Corpsmembers with a blend of youth and workforce development opportunities, alongside technical training that equips them for careers in urban forestry and the broader green jobs sector. The Urban and Community Forestry Program will focus on the maintenance of urban trees and forested natural areas, aiming to improve forest health and resilience. Additionally, the program will work to enhance access to watersheds in neighborhoods identified by the City of Denver as economically vulnerable and disproportionately affected by climate change. This role is funded by a three-year grant from The Corps Network, and the continuation of the position beyond the grant's end date will depend on future funding. As the Program and Pathways Manager, you will collaborate closely with colleagues from the Denver Land Conservation Program and other staff to design and implement the Urban and Community Forestry Corps (UCFC) program. Your responsibilities will encompass program design, training and employer partner development, project scheduling, community outreach, and operational planning. You will also lead the hiring process for Crew Leaders and Corpsmembers, conduct site visits, manage day-to-day program activities, and ensure high satisfaction rates for project partners. Furthermore, you will be responsible for grant management, including budget oversight and reporting on program outcomes. This is a full-time exempt position with a starting salary of $50,000 per year, and it includes a comprehensive benefits package. Paid time off accrual begins immediately upon hire, and medical, dental, vision, and life benefits are available after 30 days of employment. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for Corps-related functions. Mile High Youth Corps is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all its activities and is looking for a candidate who shares this commitment.
