About the position

The Program and Volunteer Manager is a key role at ASC and GOA, responsible for overseeing program operations and volunteer management. This position reports to the COO/Executive Director and plays a vital role in delivering high-quality programs and inclusive outdoor experiences. The manager will lead internal operations, support program coordinators, and ensure effective communication and processes to enhance the organization's success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the program operations with day-to-day leadership of ASC's Program Coordinators and part-time staff.
  • In partnership with the COO/ED, hire new program staff as needed.
  • Provide guidance, strategies for growth, and operational assistance for all programs.
  • In partnership with the COO/ED, develop new programs and events aligned with BOD-approved growth and fundraising strategies.
  • Conduct yearly performance reviews for Program Coordinators, part-time, and seasonal employees.
  • Implement appropriate professional development tools and training to maximize operational effectiveness and ensure the achievement of employee goals and performance benchmarks.
  • Assist the COO/ED in coordinating and directing program expansion strategies; helping to build strategic partnerships in existing and new regions.
  • Lead volunteer management, communication, retention, and develop a comprehensive volunteer plan.
  • In partnership with senior staff, implement fundraising events, and communicate program successes and outcomes to further the mission.
  • Work with the Program Coordinators to develop and implement a program-focused communication plan.
  • In partnership with the COO/ED and program staff, manage growth as it relates to the capacity to serve with excellence.
  • Develop program outcomes and implement a plan to gather and analyze data.
  • In partnership with all staff, implement the strategic plan created by the Board of Directors.
  • In partnership with the COO/ED, coordinate the annual operations plan and budget for ASC and GOA.
  • In partnership with the COO/ED and GOA Program Coordinator, develop and implement marketing and customer engagement strategies to drive sales, and sponsorships, and meet financial projections.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent experience resulting in broad knowledge of a field related to the job.
  • 5 years related experience and/or training, and 2 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word for at least 1 year.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred degrees in Sport Management, Recreation Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education, or Exercise Science.
  • Certifications such as American Canoe Association (ACA), Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA), or Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP).
