About the position

The Program Assistant for the School of Botanical Art and Illustration at Denver Botanic Gardens plays a crucial role in supporting and moderating various educational programs, classes, and activities. This part-time position involves engaging with students, managing logistics, and ensuring a positive learning environment both online and on-site. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the diverse programming offered by the Gardens.

Responsibilities

  • Greet students and create a welcoming environment for class participants and instructors.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices for managing audio-visual software and hardware in classrooms and online.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and interact with IT staff as needed.
  • Oversee program setup and related logistics before and during classes.
  • Assist instructors during in-person or online classes.
  • Maintain and organize class and program supplies.
  • Take accurate attendance and communicate with tardy or absent students as needed.
  • Prepare and send class surveys and run survey reports.
  • Stay informed about SBAI program offerings and serve as a program representative during classes.
  • Contribute to the course catalog creation process.
  • Run occasional drop-in programs and activities as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in adult education programs or art programs in a museum, university, or other school setting required.
  • Strong familiarity with art supplies and adult learning principles.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and familiarity with adult learning preferred.
  • Ability to maintain stability under pressure and deal well with stressful situations.
  • Willingness to modify plans as necessary throughout the day.
