About the position

The Program Assistant for the Virtual Learning Academy plays a crucial role in supporting the Principal and Assistant Principal in various administrative tasks. This position involves assisting with the organization and maintenance of service-related files, preparing reports, and managing student enrollment and scheduling. The role requires proficiency in various software applications and effective communication skills to address inquiries from parents and students.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Virtual Learning Academy Principal and Assistant Principal
  • Assists with purchasing supplies and materials
  • Assists with copies and preparation, and mailing of materials as needed
  • Assists with updating service websites
  • Prepares required reports and collects a variety of data
  • Organizes and maintains service-related files
  • Utilizes software applications, including but not limited to Edgenuity, School Tool, Microsoft Office, Cleartrack, and Google Applications
  • Assists with scheduling/enrollment of students
  • Answers VLA main office phone and staffs the Virtual Main Office, addressing parent and student questions as needed
  • Performs related work as required

Requirements

  • Graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree
  • Graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree and two years of clerical experience in an office setting
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and four years of clerical experience in an office setting
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as outlined by the limits of A), B) and C) above
  • Broome County Civil Service examination required
