About the position

The Program Assistant position at the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center (NPEC) is an entry-level role focused on supporting various administrative and operational tasks within the organization. The role involves editing and posting media content, assisting in the production of presentations, managing websites, and supporting course logistics. The position is remote, with a salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year, and requires a commitment of at least two years.

Responsibilities

  • Edit and post media content on NPEC's public forums and private events on NPEC's website, its graduate course website, YouTube and other social media.
  • Support NPEC's Executive Director in the production of Power Point lecture presentations.
  • Format NPEC publications, primers and lectures using InDesign and Microsoft Word.
  • Manage and update NPEC's various websites.
  • Support administration and logistics of NPEC's Nuclear Policy and Space Policy courses as well as monitor student performance.
  • Support and enhance the office's use of information technology and social media.
  • Work with NPEC's Executive Director and Executive Assistant on NPEC's annual Public Policy Fellowship retreat.
  • Conduct routine NPEC P.O. Box and storage unit visits (in Arlington, VA).
  • Support office operations and event logistics as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in journalism.
  • Minimum employment commitment of two years.
  • Reside in Northern Virginia and/or the DC region.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Organized, entrepreneurial, and detail oriented.
  • Able to take quick, accurate dictation.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Working familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Mac, Google Business Suite, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Adobe InDesign or similar desktop publishing software, and Adobe Premiere Pro or similar video software.
  • Working knowledge of website content management, preferably WordPress.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, a good work ethic, and a proven ability to anticipate what is needed with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest or prior experience in nonproliferation or public policy.
