About the position

The Program Assistant position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves providing administrative support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of various programs within the Department of Homeland Security. The role is critical in safeguarding the American way of life by securing transportation infrastructure, including airports and public transit systems. The position requires a combination of routine and complex tasks, including program evaluation, data analysis, and policy implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist managers in evaluating programs and their effectiveness in delivering services.
  • Provide administrative support across various program areas such as finance and human resources.
  • Compile, track, and analyze data to support TSA field operations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of new office policies and systems.
  • Prepare complex correspondence and evaluate the impact of policy changes.
  • Act as a lead for other support staff to coordinate multiple assignments.
  • Provide advice and guidance on payroll rules and procedures.
  • Train staff on time-card data entry and certify time-cards each pay period.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-E Pay Band or GS-8 in the Federal service.
  • Experience providing payroll or timekeeping support.
  • Experience assisting with the development of reports, formulating recommendations, or monitoring metrics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a federal agency or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with TSA policies and procedures.
