About the position

The Program Budget and Compliance Officer for the Flourishing in Community Grantmaker Initiative at Fordham University is responsible for overseeing the financial and regulatory aspects of the initiative. This role ensures the ethical management of subgrant contracts, timely dissemination of funds, and adherence to applicable regulations, thereby maintaining the initiative's credibility in advancing environmental and climate justice. The officer collaborates closely with various offices within the university and plays a critical role in supporting community-based organizations in disadvantaged areas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage financial processes related to subgrant contracts, including preparation, negotiation, and execution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of subgrant funds according to organizational procedures and funding agreements.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures for the initiative, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Communicate regulatory requirements to subgrant recipients and provide guidance for compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments for subgrant projects and develop mitigation strategies for identified risks.
  • Monitor compliance with subgrant agreements through audits and reviews.
  • Provide training and support to staff and subgrant recipients on financial management and compliance reporting.
  • Develop resources to assist subgrant recipients in navigating regulatory landscapes and financial management challenges.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions and compliance documentation related to subgrant funding.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, funders, and regulatory agencies regarding financial and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 5 years in accounting, budgets, fiscal oversight, compliance, or financial services.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting grant contracts and processes preferred.
  • Proficiency in other commonly used compliance tools preferred.
