About the position

The Program Chief Engineer (PCE) at Collins Aerospace is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team in the development of complex electro-optical-mechanical hardware within a regulated avionics environment. This role involves project management, technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while overseeing the execution of engineering deliverables and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical system level specifications and requirements capture.
  • Manage program activities for a multi-discipline engineering development team.
  • Coordinate Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) DO-254, DO-160 and SW DO-178 certification compliance planning and activities.
  • Create, execute, and track program schedules.
  • Oversee detailed designs including architecture, drawing creation, design analysis, test plans, and design reviews.
  • Establish functional test and design verification strategies.
  • Help define Production Test Requirements.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to support New Product Introduction and early customer deliverables.
  • Plan and track all engineering deliverables to the customer.
  • Coordinate the development of Support Test Equipment.
  • Plan and track the execution of Electrical and Environmental Qualification Tests.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • 10+ years of engineering development experience with technical project management and/or extensive engineering lead background is required.
  • Experience with Earned Value based project management is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Complex Electronic Hardware development and DO-254/DO-160 compliance preferred.
