About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Community Health Equity Research Institute at the University at Buffalo will manage a federally funded project aimed at addressing health disparities in the African American community. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to design projects, collect data, prepare reports, and facilitate the operations of the award. The coordinator will support community engagement and research initiatives, ensuring effective communication and project management throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Center of Excellence leaders to implement initiatives.
  • Provide project management support for investigator training focused on community engagement.
  • Coordinate meetings and events for internal and external participants, including Community Advisory Board meetings and seminars.
  • Oversee the maintenance and updating of databases and maps of nonprofit organizations and community-based groups.
  • Ensure documentation of program activities in accordance with procedures for ongoing monitoring.
  • Prepare regular reports on the progress and outcomes of Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience in project management, community education, community organizing, or outreach programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with large and diverse teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field.
  • Experience with clinical or community-based research.
  • Experience working in an academic and/or research environment.
  • Knowledge of Buffalo's East Side community (ZIP codes 14204, 14208, 14211, 14212, 14215).
