About the position

The Program Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion at The City University of New York (CUNY) plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and equitable campus environment. Reporting directly to the Dean for Diversity and Compliance, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing community engagement activities and initiatives that align with the university's goals related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to create programming that enhances cultural awareness and promotes a sense of belonging within the college community. In this role, the Program Coordinator will design and implement a variety of events aimed at increasing awareness and participation in diversity initiatives. This includes creating a yearly programmatic calendar that anchors various Heritage Month celebrations and community engagement events. The coordinator will also organize training sessions and workshops to support a climate of respect and inclusion, serving as a liaison for campus partners to facilitate collaborative programming for major events. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for maximizing the visibility of diversity and inclusion programming through effective publicity initiatives, utilizing marketing and social media channels. Data collection and analysis related to the effectiveness of diversity programs will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that stakeholders are informed and engaged in the ongoing efforts to promote an inclusive campus culture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage unit-specific and school-wide community engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Work with faculty, staff, and students to create programming that strengthens the culture of inclusion and belonging.
  • Design and implement events that enhance cultural awareness and diversity appreciation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop an annual schedule of activities and events.
  • Create and manage a yearly programmatic calendar for Heritage Month Cultural and community engagement events.
  • Organize trainings, workshops, and development opportunities to support a climate of respect and inclusion.
  • Serve as a liaison for campus partners to provide collaborative programming for major events.
  • Coordinate publicity initiatives to maximize visibility of diversity and inclusion programming.
  • Collect, manage, analyze, and share data related to diversity and inclusion programs and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with marketing materials and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to solve problems during events and activities.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt as needed.
  • Understanding of Institutional Compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in conducting presentations.
  • Experience with software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, OneDrive, ZOOM, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Willingness to work occasional night and/or weekend events.
