About the position

The Program Coordinator for Strategic Access Initiatives at Amherst College is a three-year term position focused on enhancing the diversity of the applicant pool through innovative programs. This role involves project management, event coordination, and stakeholder communication, requiring strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to antiracism and equity in education.

Responsibilities

  • Manage pilot programs in strategic access initiatives
  • Help develop, organize, and execute pilot programs to increase the diversity of applicants and enrolled students, including both on-campus and off-campus programs
  • Collaborate with the Assistant/Associate Director for Strategic Access Initiatives on planning and implementing program strategies to meet diversity and inclusion objectives
  • Assist with the development of reports and data tracking, which may be complex and sensitive in nature
  • Develop marketing and outreach correspondence
  • Arrange events within new pilot programs
  • Coordinate complex travel logistics and communication
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings with team members and stakeholders
  • Work with collaborators in Admission & Financial Aid to develop and track communications for pilot programs
  • Oversee day-to-day administrative tasks related to strategic access initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and data
  • Support the team with ad-hoc tasks as needed
  • Perform other duties/functions as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or more than four years of related experience coordinating programs or projects
  • 1-3 years of experience in education or program coordination
  • Valid Driver's License and successful credentialing to operate college vehicles
  • Excellent project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; can prioritize and achieve multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and programs, such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and think independently while working in a dynamic team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
  • Experience working with diverse communities and contributing to an intentionally inclusive experience for all

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from Amherst College
  • Experience with relevant software (or similar products), including Asana (project management), Workday (financial management), Event Management System (EMS) (facility reservations), Slate (CRM)
