About the position

The Program Coordinator for Strategic Initiatives at Stanford University's First Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center (FLISSC) is responsible for overseeing and leading various programs and initiatives aimed at supporting first-generation and low-income students. This role emphasizes student leadership development, event planning, and creating an inclusive environment that fosters a sense of belonging among students. The coordinator will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that programs are student-centered and effectively address the diverse needs of the student population.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, review, and administer student records by analyzing data and providing recommendations.
  • Support FLI students in their academic and leadership journey, ensuring access to campus resources.
  • Develop recommendations by collaborating with staff and faculty to address programmatic issues.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources to inform decisions and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Provide advice to students on academic progress, career plans, and community standards.
  • Develop and lead training sessions for student staff on academic policies and support resources.
  • Identify students in crisis and refer them to appropriate resources.
  • Assist in creating pre- and post-surveys to assess the impact of FLI programs.
  • Develop marketing materials and strategies for program activities and outreach functions.
  • Oversee and lead all events and initiatives within the FLI Student Success Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Understanding of current practices in student success initiatives, particularly for first-generation and low-income students.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field.
  • Experience in event logistics planning.
  • Proficient in developing comprehensive program strategies.
