About the position

The Program Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo County is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating activities for youth aged 6-18 within various program areas. This role aims to create a positive environment that fosters youth achievement and participation in programs, while also ensuring safety and quality in all activities. The coordinator will work closely with staff, volunteers, and community members to support the organization's mission of empowering youth and supporting families.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates achievement and promotes program participation.
  • Register new members and participate in their Club orientation process.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members while maintaining discipline among youth participants.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure safety and quality, maintaining proper records for planning and evaluation.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement various programs using internal and external resources.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and recruit, assign, and supervise volunteers and program assistants.
  • Attend trainings and other developmental opportunities as time allows.

Requirements

  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • Valid State Driver's License with little or no violations.
  • Experience in working with children.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Commitment to gender equity issues and willingness to work in multicultural settings.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with courses in education, recreation, psychology, or sociology preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.
