About the position

The Program Coordinator for the Greater Oakland Area at Community Education Partnerships (CEP) is responsible for overseeing educational programming and volunteer coordination aimed at supporting students experiencing homelessness and housing instability. This role involves managing tutoring and mentoring services, ensuring effective communication with volunteers, students, and families, and contributing to the overall mission of enhancing academic achievement for underserved students.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate CEP Programming at OK Program Partner Site (3 days per week)
  • Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of onsite academic support programs for middle and high school students
  • Schedule program dates and times with the partner site
  • Coordinate and support volunteers for these programs
  • Coordinate activities for programs including worksheets, study materials, and book giveaways
  • Ensure supplies are available for these programs
  • Coordinate volunteers for one-on-one tutoring for students at this site
  • Ensure data entry and record keeping are sound and up-to-date
  • Recruit volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to volunteer tutors and check in with them about their student's progress
  • Regularly check in with students and their families to ensure their tutoring and educational needs are being met
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and data collection procedures are being followed
  • Support grant writing and grant reporting with stories of service and accurate data
  • Share best practices, templates, lesson plans, and guidance with current and future colleagues
  • Support our annual fundraiser and fundraising campaigns
  • Participate in donor and volunteer appreciation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (B.A./B.S. or Associate's degree with 3-5 years of experience)
  • Experience in teaching or leadership in a classroom setting
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in coordinating and managing volunteers or staff
  • Knowledge of academic instruction best practices and experience supporting student learning
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage relationships with volunteers, students, community, and donors
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Reliable access to a car and a valid driver's license
