About the position

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is a private, non-profit human service agency dedicated to providing a variety of services throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. With a mission to improve the quality of life for individuals and families, LSS serves over 125,000 clients annually. We are currently seeking a passionate and mission-driven individual to join our team as a Program Coordinator for our HUD Housing Program. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with housing regulations and maintaining high occupancy standards in our network of HUD housing apartment buildings. As a Program Coordinator, you will have direct responsibility for processing and verifying all compliance paperwork related to tenant certifications and leases. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you review documentation to ensure it meets the requirements set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and LSS expectations. You will also be responsible for maintaining tenant satisfaction and high occupancy rates, which are vital to the success of our housing program. This position is primarily Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, and is a full-time role that is eligible for benefits. You will be working closely with a variety of individuals, including tenants, neighborhood group representatives, and city leaders, to facilitate a smooth application process and ensure compliance with all necessary regulations. Your ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple tasks will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Direct responsibility for processing and verifying all compliance paperwork.
  • Review and correct documentation for tenant certifications, leases, etc.
  • Maintain high occupancy and tenant satisfaction.
  • Ensure all certification paperwork is complete according to HUD program rules and LSS expectations.
  • Intake and process applications.
  • Complete background, credit checks, and HUD eligibility verifications to complete approval for tenancy.
  • Communicate with a variety of individuals and neighborhood group representatives and city leaders.
  • Hold a HUD Certified Occupancy Specialist Certification or similar certification.
  • Implement requirements contained within HUD handbook(s) and publications.
  • Complete informational and compliance reports and respond to requests for information on property operations in a timely manner.

  • High attention to detail in reviewing documentation.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with tenants and community representatives.

  • Ability to complete informational and compliance reports.
