About the position

The Program Coordinator II position with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is a full-time role located in Nash County, NC, within the Field Operations Support Unit (Help Desk) of Vehicle Services. This unit plays a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the operational status of all License Plate Agencies, Vendors, Contact Centers, and state-owned offices throughout North Carolina. The primary focus of this position is to provide exceptional customer service and technical support to users of various state systems, including the State Titling and Registration System (STARS), Liability Insurance Tracking and Enforcement System (LITES), International Registration Plan (IRP), National Motor Vehicle Information System (NMVTIS), and online services such as PayIT. In this role, the Program Coordinator II will be responsible for ensuring that all inquiries and issues related to vehicle registration, title records, and legal documents are addressed promptly and accurately. This includes identifying and resolving system, equipment, and maintenance issues that may arise. The position requires a strong understanding of NC General Statutes, Vehicle Services policies, and administrative codes to provide accurate information and support to personnel. Candidates for this position should have experience dealing with a diverse clientele and maintaining effective working relationships with agency personnel. They should also be adept at interpreting and explaining policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as reviewing detailed documents for accuracy and completeness. The ability to identify problems, resolve issues, and make independent decisions is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office equipment is also required. Responsibilities

  • Provide stellar customer service and technical support for users of the State Titling and Registration System (STARS) and other related systems.
  • Support and maintain the operational status of License Plate Agencies, Vendors, Contact Centers, and state-owned offices.

  • Research vehicle registration, title records, and legal documents for acceptability and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience dealing with a diverse clientele and maintaining effective working relationships with agency personnel.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Experience reviewing detailed documents and records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience identifying problems, resolving issues, and making independent decisions.
