The Program Coordinator II for Undergraduate Student Success at Texas A&M University plays a vital role in enhancing the academic journey of undergraduate students, particularly focusing on first-generation students. This position is situated within the College of Arts and Sciences, which serves as the academic heart of the university, offering a diverse range of programs and opportunities for students to engage in research, study abroad, and hands-on experiences. The coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of various student success programs, including First 2 Finish, Regents' Scholars, Transfer Students, and Living-Learning Communities. The role emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive environment that fosters academic, social, and professional skills among students. In this capacity, the Program Coordinator II will work collaboratively with faculty, academic advisors, and peer coordinators to ensure that students receive the necessary support to thrive in their academic pursuits. The coordinator will also be tasked with advising a cohort of students, helping them navigate their academic and personal challenges, and connecting them with appropriate resources. This position requires a proactive approach to program management, including planning events, developing training materials, and preparing reports on program activities. The coordinator will also attend professional meetings to stay informed about best practices in student success initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse perspectives. Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of undergraduate student programs to improve first-year retention.
  • Supports the establishment of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and strategic planning for student success initiatives.
  • Assists in developing and updating training materials for success programming.
  • Presents content to undergraduate students in group settings or on an individual basis.
  • Plans and/or leads program events and projects each semester as determined by the Program Manager.
  • Advises a cohort of assigned students regarding academic, social, and professional goals.
  • Assists in reviewing and integrating successful support techniques for students in academic concern status.
  • Ensures student non-academic needs are identified and connects them to appropriate resources.
  • Communicates timely with students regarding program events and updates.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information and data on first-year programming.
  • Prepares reports on program activities and contributes to evaluation and assessment needs.
  • Attends local, regional, and national professional meetings related to undergraduate student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of relevant experience working with student success initiatives for undergraduate students, such as event management.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with groups of people in a helpful, respectful, approachable, and team-oriented manner.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • More than five years of experience in program management including some course management and academic counseling.
  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.
