About the position

The Program Coordinator for Instructional Design at the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired plays a crucial role in connecting students with services through the coordination of group classes and individual scheduling. This position is integral to the Instructional Design and Applied Learning department, which is responsible for developing course templates, managing educational programs, and ensuring compliance with educational standards. The coordinator will work closely with students, staff, and community partners to enhance educational opportunities and support the mission of promoting independence and equity for blind and low vision individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of group courses, including database management, calendar scheduling, student enrollment, course setup, and instructor coordination.
  • Collaborate with other Program Coordinators for student sign-ups for LightHouse programs.
  • Work with Service Navigators and Intake Coordinators to ensure service provision aligns with students' individualized service plans.
  • Make schedule reminder calls for new student appointments, including orientations and baseline assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Community Education team to build and send regular lists of LightHouse programs to community support providers.
  • Manage ASL and spoken language resources, including scheduling interpreters and processing vendor invoices.
  • Assist Directors with purchasing office supplies and coordinating student equipment and supplies, ensuring accessibility.
  • Provide administrative assistance to Directors and Service Providers, particularly related to MS Office and Database Management.
  • Create Salesforce Reports for Directors to track various grants and manage procurement and billing for grants.
  • Ensure timely entry of all student service data into Salesforce and submit monthly reporting and billing accurately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with students who are blind and have concomitant health conditions or disabilities.
  • Subject matter expert knowledge of the expanded core curriculum.
  • Experience working with the blind/DeafBlind/disabled community strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FASA and other academic documents students must complete.
  • Thorough understanding of DOR Pre-ETS and skills related to developing blind skills connected to job skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate to staff and students from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong coaching skills, including positive problem solving and professional communication.
  • Ability to formulate individual, sequential training plans.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in database entry, with Salesforce experience being a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and knowledge of Zoom or other web conferencing platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bicultural and bilingual, particularly in languages like American Sign Language, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Tagalog, or Vietnamese.
  • Knowledge of braille desired.
